Dobby Border
Dobby border towel manufacturer and exporter.
Bath towels, bath sheets and hotel towels with a dobby border woven into the cloth — made to your specification at our partner mill in Solapur and shipped FOB direct to importers and hotel groups.
A dobby border is a band woven into the towel itself — usually plain or lightly patterned — rather than printed or sewn on afterwards. That is what makes it useful: it is part of the cloth, so it does not fade, peel or drift out of step with the rest of the towel through commercial laundering. In a hotel it also does a job: it is the reference line housekeeping staff and guests use to tell a hand towel from a bath towel from a bath mat at a glance when several sizes are stacked together, which is why almost every hotel programme specifies a bordered towel rather than a plain one.
We weave bordered towels at our manufacturing partner V P Mundada in Solapur, weaving since 1972 — bath towels in ringspun cotton terry, bath sheets, hotel border towels, pure white towels with a reinforced hem, and a Greek-key border towel in a 50 × 100 cm hand-to-small-bath-towel format. Border design, colour and size are built to your brief, and because a woven pattern is set up at the loom, it suits a design you intend to keep across seasons and reorders rather than one that changes every year.
Dobby and jacquard are often confused. A dobby border is a woven band; jacquard weaves a fuller pattern into the fabric itself, and suits a retail brand that wants its own design in the cloth rather than on it. Tell us which you need and we will propose a construction. A physical sample is approved before bulk on every order, with colour fixed by lab dip before dyeing, so a reorder matches the first shipment.

How we supply
Made to your specification, at the mill.
One mill, not a broker chain
Towels are made at our manufacturing partner V P Mundada in Solapur, weaving since 1972. Quotations and shipment come FOB direct from the mill, so your commercial relationship is with the people running the looms.
Specification fixed before production
GSM, size, colour, border, weave and packaging are set to your specification, and nothing enters bulk production until you have approved a physical sample.
Certified production floor
The mill holds OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, OEKO-TEX MADE IN GREEN, OEKO-TEX STeP, ISO 9001:2015, GRS and BSCI certification. Organic cotton linen is made by our partner Cotonex in Karur under GOTS Version 7.0.
Repeat orders that match
Colour is approved by lab dip before bulk dyeing and every batch is checked against the approved sample, so your second container matches your first.
Export paperwork prepared
Certificates of origin, packing lists and the compliance documentation your customs broker asks for are prepared as a standard part of every order.

Frequently asked
What buyers ask us first.
What is a dobby border on a towel?
A band woven into the towel, usually plain or lightly patterned, rather than printed or sewn on. Because it is part of the cloth, it does not fade or lift in commercial laundering, and in hotels it helps staff tell towel sizes apart at a glance.
What is the difference between a dobby border and a jacquard border?
A dobby border is a woven band, typically plain or lightly patterned. Jacquard weaves a fuller pattern into the fabric itself. Dobby suits hotel programmes that need towels distinguishable by size; jacquard suits brands that want their own design in the cloth.
Can the border design be customised?
Yes — border artwork, colours and size can be developed to your brief, or matched to a towel you already buy. Because the pattern is set up at the loom, it suits a design you plan to keep rather than one that changes every season.
Which of your towels carry a dobby border?
Our bath towels, bath sheets, hotel border towels and the Greek-key border towel (50 × 100 cm) all carry one. Other sizes in a matched set can be developed to your specification — tell us the products in your programme and we will quote them together.
Will a reorder match the first order?
The border pattern is set in the weave, colour is approved by lab dip before bulk dyeing, and every batch is checked against the approved sample, so a later shipment matches what is already in service.
What is the minimum order quantity?
MOQ varies by product and customisation level — for standard ranges it is typically container-load based, and for private label it depends on the finish. Tell us the product and market and our export team will confirm the exact figure.
Can you match a towel we already buy from another supplier?
Yes — send a photograph or a physical reference and we will develop a matching specification (GSM, construction, border, colour) and quote against it before you commit to anything.
Can we see a sample before ordering?
Always. Samples are developed to your specification and approved by you before bulk production begins — that is the standard sequence on every order, not an extra step you have to ask for.
